Scorers' Table Etiquette

Who is responsible for the behavior of personnel at the scorers' table? Our table is not very large...I (the P.A. Announcer), the scoreboard operator, the home book and the visiting book are all that sit at the table. In a recent game, the person keeping the visiting book spent as much time cheering and jeering as they did keeping up with the book. We take a lot of pride in acting in an appropriate mannor during games...but when the opposing book is not, who should be the one to correct them?

If the behavior is blatant enough, the officials should notice it and address it in some manner, directly or indirectly.

"Sir / Madam, as Table personnel it is very important that you recuse yourself from making comments and jestures that indicate your bias towards a particular team. If you feel that you are too emotionally vested, then we can replace you."

This is what I have to tell them about 2x per season, they always get the msg and fix their actions---prolly some of them are a bit embarrassed as I will always say that within earshot of fans, coaches, and players.

I just call my game.If the visiting scorer wants to act in an unprofessional manner then they can earn their removal from the table by the floor officials.

I had a girls freshman game a couple years ago where the official scorer, the mother of one of the home team's players, was loudly complaining about our decisions. We informed her and the home team's head coach that she needed to stop or else we'd stop the game and find a new scorer.
