Sunday games????

How many of you have worked games or know of games being scheduled on Sunday?

We had this discussion on the FB page, so I felt I would ask here.

Peace

None on Sundays here.
One former profession regretted Wednesdays after late Tuesday games (back when games were only on Tuesdays and Fridays) because kids were pretty much brain dead in the classroom the day after long road trips. That was back when I was coaching, and I really wasn't at my best on Wednesdays either. Therefore, Sunday night games I would not like due to kids not being at their best learning modes on Mondays.
Another former profession regrets anything keeping kids and families from church on Sunday mornings.
Therefore, Sunday afternoon games would be ok with me.
There's still a sense of keeping Sundays sacred, in a traditional and non-school activities way. At least around here. Though the premier teams regularly practice on Sunday afternoons. Or at least gather to watch film.
Probably wouldn't happen here, unless special circumstances due to a multiplicity of snow dates leaving no other choice. Which is always a seasonal possibility.

Although the majority of parishes now play home games on Saturdays, our local CYO has teams that play Sunday afternoon or evening.

Last season, I officiated a couple of Sunday night games at one such school.

We have an AAU-type league here that does a lot of Sundays. Schools don't schedule Sundays, though. Even Wednesday seems to be relegated to middle schools.

We have several adult leagues who play Sunday games in the spring and I know of one fall Rec league that plays Sunday games.

Never On A Sunday (Petula Clark) ...

Our state high school interscholastic sports governing body discourages Sunday games unless there is some type of weather related postponement near the end of the season.

The Catholic Middle School League that I work allows Sunday afternoon games (after Sunday morning masses).

Private schools, prep schools, AAU, recreation, travel, etc.: Anything goes. They play on any day of the week that ends in a "y".

NYC Publics have very, very few Sunday games. I just scanned the schedule and saw fewer than 5 BV games on Sundays this season. Playoffs are a different story. Once the QF round begins neutral sites are used, generally NCAA gyms. If Sunday is what they can get, that's when the games are played.

Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania Sunday high school games are rare. There are some tip off or holiday tourneys that sometimes may fall on a Sunday. There also some other tourney/benefit/classic type games here or there. If a team plays on a Sunday they are suppose to get another day off during the week. That rule really isn't forced just suggested.

No scholastic games on Sunday here. Men's league, AAU, CYO, travel, and rec leagues play almost every night of the week including Sundays. Depends on the facility/league.

Middle school/freshman games are almost every day throughout the week typically starting at 5pm. JV at 6pm, most Varsity at 7:30pm weeknight and 1pm/7:30pm Saturdays. Boys and girls HS are played every night of the week, no designated days.
