Had this situation about a week ago.


A1 for a throw in after a made basket and a time out. A2 runs from inbounds to OOB and A1 throws the ball to A2. B1 follows A2 and reaches out and deflects pass while OOB.

That's what we had. Had there been no contact with the ball or player we would have had the warning

This is one rule that I wish they would change. If you reach through the boundary and contact the ball, it is a Technical foul. However, if you reach through, miss the ball and actually hit the inbounder, an act that seems worse to me, it is penalized with an intentional, which is a less severe penalty (you only get 2 techs, you could potentially have all 5 of your fouls be intentional)

If you don't get the warning for B1 going OOB, you have a player technical on B1.
