AC serving water during IF FTs

The AC thread got me to thinking about this, in my season finale.

My partner (the R, two man) rules an IF against V-1. H-2 goes to shoot the two FTs, I administer. While doing so, the other H players are near their bench, which is fine, but the H AC is on his feet serving water bottles, as if it were a time out. I just continue administering.

As I'm getting the ball to the more experienced (and respected) R for the sideline throw-in, I ask him if we should have done anything about the AC (or at least said something). He thinks it's not worth it, so we move on.

Thoughts on this? Would you have addressed the AC (or HC) while water bottles are being served, gone straight to the T, or just passed on it?

Ignore it unless it causes some sort of delay. I look at it the same as a player during free throws standing by the bench and being tossed a towel to dry off the sweat. Much bigger things to watch like the other 9 players walking around.

Lets see...FT shooter, one defender in each of the low positions...that's three that should not be walking around. Just how many players do you allow on the floor at one time?

Here is an excerpt from an email a supervisor sent out:

"...Now is the time to use what I call is your basketball common sense. Don't create problems that you don't need. We as officials should be at our peak , and useing our basketball sense along with our common sense. The Coach was right if that Assistant is not bothering you , then our common sense should tell us to leave him alone."

Why in the world would you go "fishing" for trouble with the AC serving water bottles?

PASS on this 1 million times out of 1 million.

I was thinking the same thing.

Actually the home team sent kids with cups of water during timeouts last night. Nice touch.
