At the very end of my first year I had a contest terminated for me by the competition authority (it was an AAU tournament with a neutral gym manager / supervisor from the league office, and he made the decision).

The coach in this particular game had chipped in the 2nd quarter, gotten told to knock it off by my partner (state tournament official), and mostly complied, but started getting more and more verbal as the game got out of hand in the 4th quarter (30 or 40 point game). Partner told him once more that we'd had enough, and shortly after (about a minute to go in the game) he was on the floor barking (oddly, it was after I gave the ball back to his team on a traveling call...he wanted to know "Where was that call in the FIRST QUARTER??"). So I whacked him. In this tournament it's two automatic points instead of the FTs, so I tell the scorer and turn to go across and administer the throw-in. When I get there he's ten feet on the floor shouting at me, profanely. I glance to partner on end line (my first year, remember), who smiles and nods. Whack, get out.

With less than a minute to go and several parents (including this team's scorekeeper) on their feet looking belligerent, the game manager stepped onto the floor and announced that the game was over. We retired to the facility office to write reports.
