One game for the actual ejection and the circumstances that lead to the ejection, plus an extra game or two for charging at the official and throwing the mouthpiece. I'd expect a 2 game suspension...3 at most, but I'd honestly be surprised with that.

IMO, Johnson's actions are worse. After his initial BS, he decided to fire his mouthpiece at the official hitting him in the back, then has to be restrained by several teamates and coaches before leaving the floor. I think 5 games are in order but would be surprised by that as well. |

This, IMO, isn't worthy of a five game suspension...short of physical contact with the official, past precedent hasn't called for five games. The mouthpiece bit and having to be restrained will add on a game...maybe two...for failure to leave in a timely fashion. I'd say 3 games max. Of course, this is without knowing what went into the league report.

In my book, throwing an object and hitting a human target constitutes physical contact.

I'm looking at this from what I think will be used as criteria in determining length of suspension. No, I don't think the NBA views throwing a mouthpiece and hitting an official the same as intentionally and physically contacting an official. Would it be different if it was a water bottle? Possible as it could be argued that there's a greater possibility for injury.
