I could see, 2 whistle, but 3?
Playoffs=edgy=quick whistles

Lord no

Where was the play? If it was outside the paint on strong side C doesn't need to have a whistle as either the Lead or the Trail should be able to see it.

If the play curled into the paint that the C has a good look and either the Lead or the Trail is most likely straight-lined so the C and whichever of the other 2 that had a open look should have the other whistle.

Also, if there has been any rough play previously the crew might have just been hyper-sensistive to any possible scrums.

In a girl's game, the paint is everyone's primary as far as I am concerned. So would I be worried about 3 whistles - no. Would we laugh about it and give each other crap about it later - absolutely.

Well, there is ONE spot on the floor where at least some part of the play will be in all 3 official's primary.

Opposite of the C, in the lane, near the FT line. Back to C he could not possibly see the held ball.

I would think unless it was a scrum on the floor that at least one official would have to straight-lined.

No big deal. But in a camp I know something would be said if 3 whistles were put on a routine held ball.

Not at all. I could easily position the officials and players such that none would be straight-lined.

Lets see if this ascii drawing comes through...(players just under the FT line)

Code:
              T
                                                  L

                             O X

                                 C
Every official in this arrangement can see through the play.

X & O would be closer on a held ball based on the scale of your diagram and either the T or L would not be to see the ball without some extreme movement by the L or T. I just don't see all 3 officials having an open look.

Sure they could. Not all held balls are in tight....or maybe the ball is not centered. It is not at all difficult for all 3 to be able to see it.

Were the whistles late?
