My first season, in a 7th-grade game. H coach is convinced he's losing by 40 'cause of officials, not 'cause of team that can't dribble, shoot, pass, play D, etc. Coach has been warned (by partner) after a loud remark. With about 1:00 left in the 4th quarter, I call a travel on V, giving H team the ball back, and H coach yells from about 20' "Where the hell was that call in the first quarter?"

Whack!

In this tournament, technical fouls resulted in an automatic two points and the ball at the division line. I report and turn to administer the throw-in, and turn to find the H coach following me onto the floor. My partner is apparently not paying attention...I wait a beat and then Whack! #2, see ya. He refused to leave and the tournament director ended the game after about 2 minutes of this guy ranting. Got suspended for a month.

I know this isn't Basketball, but in a 7-year-olds football game this fall I ran an assistant coach. In NFHS football, Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties work like Ts - two and you're gone. This assistant yelled across the field at opponents that they were a bunch of sissies (for kneeling at the end of the game instead of running another play. ??). Before the flag hit the ground, he had kicked a yard line marker onto the field. I picked the flag off the ground, threw it again, and invited him to leave.

This coach who's team was ranked in Illinois top ten a few years back was on me for an off ball call early in the game. After continued venom from him, I warned him verbally and with stop sign and told both partners. A few minutes later he continued not only about next call, but previous call and said I sucked, Bang! Home crowd packed house went crazy. He then gave me the dismissive wave and held his nose which incited the crowd even more.

Whack.............he was gone. Crowd then started to throw objects on the court and it was getting ugly.

Then I woke up in a cold sweat............

One of my last non-Upward BB youth games - 5/6 grade boys - A1 tries to dribble between B1 and B2 with little room. Ball quickly becomes loose. B1 secures possession. Frustrated A1 fouls B1 as B1 is beginning a fastbreak.
Coach calls time-out. I tell A1 about the evils of going between two players, A1 demonstrates frustration to me concerning the call. I go to coach to ask him to warn A1 about respecting officials. Coach was a bad example. A technical foul was issued to coach. Nothing changed. Followed by a second technical about 10 seconds later.

5th grade boys. A1 comes full tilt charging across the floor, shoulder down, mows down B1 who doesn't even have the ball, A1 is just pissed about something. I call the flagrant. A team HC comes charging onto the floor directly at me, hollering. Whack. He goes stomping back to his bench, throws his clipboard and his coaching ID badge on the ground while everybody. Whack. Buh bye.

"Coach, maybe you're right and it is our fault. I'll tell you what. To make up for it, we'll give your team 30 points! Oh wait - you're still losing."

Yep. Personal foul on B1. As I moved toward to table to report and walking past B1, he BUMPED into me...hard... while speaking his mind ... WHACK....Flagrant. Coach came on the floor screaming that the original foul was *BS*. Whack on coach......"That's TERRIBLE!", he yelled, moving towards the reporting area.... "Whack" again on coach. Both had to be escorted to the showers.
I hate calling techincals, but you have to take care of business........

Yep

NCAA Division III game. Early in the second half, my partner "no-calls" a blocked shot, and coach slams his clipboard to the floor. I am right in front of him at trail, and I stick him. I move to center opposite for the free throws. Coach continues to complain to my "veteran" partner, who stands there talking to him. Coach then points at me and shouts "you need to go back to high school ball". I wait two beats for my (gutless) veteran partner to do something, and when he doesn't, I hit coach again and run him.

Seemed like the right thing to do.

Yep. Yesterday. BV three whistle. Partner has a common foul on H10. During the dead ball H10 pushes V1 in the chest not five feet away from me under the basket. T #1. As I go to report, H10 follows me to the reporting area and starts in on me. Tweet. #2. We had pregamed to get away from a hostile coach/player if possible and we did it. He came looking for it and it really was a no brainer.

Agreed I normally do carry 2, but this was a peewee game on a Saturday morning and I had accidentally left the kit bag with my varsity gear in the house with the dirty uniform from the night before. I was using my spare set of gear and only had one flag with me...
