Handling the ball for 1-and-1 administration?

No signal......say loudly "Bonus....one and one". An official I thought highly of once said "there is no way of doing the hand signal gracefully with the ball, so don't do it. If the players don't know what one and one means, they shouldn't be at this level".

Which is why I do it as the ball is passed to the shooter.

Nope, it's live when caught by the shooter and remains live during the entire FT. Stop saying incorrect information.

Oh, in regards to the OP, I do the last one. Under the elbow, flash the signal as I say "one and one," bounce the ball and get out of the way.

The one thing that would speed things up is to eliminate the congrats on the miss by teammates. But, since that won't happen, I say "1 AND 1" while holding the ball and showing index fingers at that time. No repeats. No commentary about lane entry. No telling my partner his shoe is untied. I just try to move it along as quickly as I can.

Like others here, I was taught one way:

Bounce the ball to the shooter, then immediately signal and say "one and one!" before the ball is caught.
