Handling the ball for 1-and-1 administration?
What do you do with the ball when administering a 1-and-1?
What I've seen: - hold ball in hands with index fingers extended - same as above, ball between wrists - bounce the ball, signal 1-and-1, catch ball - hold ball under one arm/elbow, signal 1-and-1 What is "correct"? |

Between wrists.
|
I usually verbalize, loudly, "1 and 1" while holding the ball.
|
"1 & 1!" Bounce the ball and signal as the ball is enroute.
It makes no difference because there's always going to be at least one player who turns and asks, "How many, ref?" |
Ball under shirt...
... and pinkies extended.
|
No signal......say loudly "Bonus....one and one". An official I thought highly of once said "there is no way of doing the hand signal gracefully with the ball, so don't do it. If the players don't know what one and one means, they shouldn't be at this level".

I say single bonus gentlemen. Ball is live on the miss.
|
For me:
--bounce the ball, signal 1-and-1, catch ball |

Like others here, I was taught one way:
Bounce the ball to the shooter, then immediately signal and say "one and one!" before the ball is caught. |
