What you really have in this case is basket interference for touching the ball while it was within the basket.

Assuming it has not hit the player's head but came back out on it's own...

While it may not have contacted the rim, that would be some pretty serious hair splitting as far as the shot clock goes. If it is inside the basket, I think most would consider it to have hit the rim and reset the clock. If it was in the basket, it would be pretty difficult for it to come back out all without ever contacting the rim.
