If my partner went to the wrong school, the first thing I would be asked by my assigner would be if I had talked to them prior to the game and made sure we were on the same page with the game time and site. If I said no, I'd be as responsible as him for working solo.

+1 That's the protocol around here as well.

That said, when I was in Des Moines, we wouldn't know who our partner was (for subvarsity games) until we showed up at the game site.
