So i ref a county tourney game with an older official, 20 years exp., state finals patches, ect. He called a good game but was texting during every deadball, timeouts, OOB plays, ect. Are you in an aarea where an Assignor gives you your games, or do you contract with the AD?

If you have an Assignor - let him/her know about this asap - before the AD calls and telss him/her.

If you contract with the AD, don't worry about it - they won't be calling him anymore.

A guy that was on my football crew the last couple of years had a small voice recorder he used for fouls and to record other things that came up during the game. A coach thought he was on the phone once and asked him to stop using it during the game. He showed the coach what it was and said it related to the game. Since, we've given him a hard time about it, asking him if he has his phone before going on the field, telling him to get off the damn phone, etc.

And NFL official did that a few years ago in the Super Bowl.
