Free Throw Admin

Question on Free throw admin as the TRAIL.

1) What side of the shooter do I stand? Even with Freethrow line Extended?

2) What players do I watch for possible violations?

3) Do I extended my arm up before the last of 2 shots or 1 and 1? Then tomahawk to start clock.

Thanks,

TR

I stand at the FT line extended. If a miss will remain live, I raise my BC-side arm as he releases his shot.

1)Table-side for NFHS 2-man. You should be roughly 6 strides from the nearest lane-line and 1-3 strides above.

2) You have shooter, the player in the top lane space nearest you and the top 2 spaces opposite you.

3)I raise my arm on all shots once the shooter releases the shot.

Billy's is probably IAABO, which does not do table-side for two-man on FTs.

I've been taught to stand slightly behind the FT Line extended as to not get in the shooter's peripheral vision.

Also gives you a better look at third lane space as well.

When at trail on free throws, I always stand opposite the hottest mom.

Not all states have adopted this mechanic change - some still have the trail opposite side to the table

Sorry, the Trail has the top 2 opposite and shooter. It might be easier for the T to see the top space nearest violate as if that violation occurs(though rarely called) the player is usually moving towards the shooter.

Oddly enough, it doesnt give any mention on who has the 3 players moving about behind the 3-pt arc.

Trail has the 3+ players behind the free throw, but they are usually not responsible for FT violations.

Though of course I called such a violation last night...
