I'd hate to try to write a manual based on the coverages we came up with!
Having been on both sides of this situation, one has to remember when we officiate, we have ONE best friend. You do whatever you can to support him, even if it means running BL to BL.

You will appreciate it when you are on the low mobility side. I slipped on a wet floor and hyper-extended my leg. Boy did that hurt.

I don't know how you managed to find sarcasm or disrespect in my post. You must have been looking pretty hard...

DId your partner appear "concussed"? You could have had him sit down until a medical professional was able to determine if they were concussed or not!

You hit the nail on the head when you said "he is a big boy and can make his own decisions". Let him live or die with it, and you be the best doggone partner you can be. Remember you are the "3rd" team out there.

If I were the one injured I would do my best to finish the game, not to pick up the check, but to help out my partner as best I could. As others here have said, I would rather work with an injured partner with limited mobility than by myself. I assume most other guys would too and that's why I would try to work injured in that situation. Nobody wants to leave another official hanging. I'm sure most of us that are of a certain age have worked games when we were less than 100 percent physically. Bad back, knee or foot problems, colds. I never want to screw another official over. I would imagine that is why your partner insisted he could work the game.

I'll just reply to everyone. Thanks to everyone for their input.

I never thought of doing the game by myself. The thought of running baseline to baseline didn't occur to me, but I did give him a few extra seconds on inbounds, free throws, etc.

Also, my damn shoe couldn't seem to stay tied...
