Lane Violation

Not a basketball ref and don't even watch the game much but a freind mentioned something that did not sound right. Is there such a thing as a "5-second lane violation"?

I know when I played the game WAAAAAYYYYYY back in the day, there was a 3 second violation but she was asking about an announcer who kept saying there was a 5 second lane violation

If that's what she heard, then the announcer made a mistake.

There's a 5-second violation, and a lane violation. No 5-second land violation, though.
