Sounds to me like you just froze. I think it's happened to all of us at one point or another. We are human after all.
The positive thing is your partner had the same call, and you agreed with it, so by all accounts you got the play right. |

Lots of distractions. You were obviously thinking the right thing - and partner confirmed. From what it sounds like - the coach had you thinking - about ways to handle him without a T vs just whacking him.
It's good that it bothers you as it shows you obviously care - and we all know that isn't always the case. The good thing is - your partner came in with a whistle, you didn't have one so you avoided the "double whistle". You confered with partner and said "take it" and he called the PC. No way anyone could fault you for confering with each other and getting call right on a single whistle. As I stated before - you didn't miss it - you were thinking obvious PC and that is what was called. Enjoy the day off - shrug this off and have some fun next week on the court again. I'm betting a little rest, a toddy or two and you'll be ready to go.

I find that when I hear my partner's whistle, I tend to really hold on to mine, and I'm afraid to put air in it, even if I know it's my call and I should take it. It's all usually ok, unless your partner has something different than you do. (or unless your partner starts hearing things and thinks you had a wihstle)

I like it and plan to steal it.

Next time down the floor, I called a PC foul on the same team -- guard stuck out his arm and pushed his defender to the floor. Nobody said a word. On the floor, I put it past me pretty quickly. Only afterward did I start deconstructing the whole thing. I guess if I was perfect at this, I'd have nothing to improve. Back at it Monday. |

I misread post and thought the events were close in proximity. I find I also put stuff behind me quickly on the court. In the car on the way home is a completely different matter. Since we work with the same 2-3 guys almost all the time over here, and ride together to the games we have a fairly extensive and lengthy post game on the ride to hash things out. I've gotten calls from fellow officials who won't ask how a particular game went - but how the "therapy" session was following the game.
