Most intense crowd I've had yet, and they sure did voice their opinion. Game went to OT, and during the OT, one particular guy who had been talking all game long decided to tell my partner that we were f***ing horse**** referees.

Now, I thought we called a pretty darn good, consistent game. Tight, but consistent. This guy didn't agree.

My partner took it upon himself to see the guy out of the gym. He left without a problem. Had a police officer escort us to the locker room and to my car.

Other than that it was fun.
I assume that GS means either Grade School or Grammar School.
What a lovely holiday experience for you. Those people were such wonderful examples for this time of the year. Continue spreading the holiday cheer.

Oh, that's right, some states have Freshman, Sophomore, and JV games as well as the Varsity contest.

My mistake, sorry.

No worries. Sometimes I wonder if it's just schools in my area. I'm in the suburbs of Chicago and high schools are much larger than they might be in southern Illinois.

There are high schools just as large and in many cases bigger than those in and around specific high schools in Chicago. It is just in the Chicago area they call the game before the varsity sophomore games.

Peace

I was referring to what they do in Utah, which is actually have FOUR levels of play: Fr, Soph, JV, and Varsity. They don't just call the game before the Varsity contest the Sophomore game, they actually have both a Sophomore game AND a JV game.

Many places around here do that as well. I know for a fact that the conference my alma mater belongs to does, and I've got a JV game scheduled outside that conference as well.

That is how it is done in a lot of places here. In addition, many high schools also have multiple freshman teams.

Pretty much the same here. Soph game precedes Varsity while usually a frosh a/b doubleheader is played in another gym. JV games are typically Saturday mornings or off days.
