Still, you're right, the announcers never admitted a mistake. Of course it was under 2 minutes in a 20+ point blowout.
No, this is why you do not listen to commentators. NCAA Rules allow for a substitution timeout, which is done only for the reasons to get players into the game. The official calls the timeout and then gives a "travel like" signal to tell everyone that this is a substitution timeout. This was the game I saw and they gave the ball back tot he same team that had the ball that called the timeout. There was no violation called at all and the dumb azz announcers did not even realize this. This rule has been in place for about 4 or 5 years now.
