I don't think the officiating.com server is big enough to handle the number I would post. Maybe I should start a new post: "How many T's do you call per quarter?"

I think I have given 4 this year. Only one of the Ts was on a head coach and another (tonight) for dunking and hanging on the rim. The rest were on players for their conduct. That is about the most I have given in some time for conduct. I usually am able to talk people out of stupidity or get them to drop dumb conversations. I think the player Ts were to young coaches that do not know how to control their players. These were totally preventable. Then again you do what you have to do.
Peace

I cut back to about 80 games total this year, and I think I have given 1 to a head coach, 1 to an assistant coach, 2 to players for conduct, and had 1 scorebook violation.
I know that doesn't sound like many, but honestly after 15 years, I think coaches know what I take and what I don't. |

I don't know how many I called this season, but I can tell I called more than most on this forum. I will not go into length (yet) about why I call more, but this is a sad situation I've been in.
I agree with MTD; I don't call enough and I don't think all officials call enough. This is a game of speed and skill. Too much other garbage comes into play and talking about it doesn't really work. It is really simple: we are more likely to not do something we are going to get penalized for than if we were only going to get "counseled" for it.

I had 5 or 6. 3 were in one game in a span of 30 seconds: player slams down ball; head coach comes out on the floor gesturing; bench coach throws clipboard! Earlier in the game my partner and I had a simultaneous whistle T against a player, but he reported it.
The thing about T's is this: if its there, you need to call it. Don't go looking for them, but I have zero tolerance for player misbehavior. If a coach responds to my warning and doesn't "get stupid," we're generally going to be OK. But if you're being harassed, you need to respond with a T. |

Not as many as I should have....
In reflecting about my past season, I have come to the realization that I am most disappointed about the "T"s that I did not give.
I worked approximately 125 games this year: 25 V, 40 sub-varsity, 60 MS level. I issued a dozen "T"s. 3 HC, 5 Players, 2 Bench, 2 Admin (book errors). My philosophy on the use of the "T" has had a significant paradigm shift in the latter part of the season. I used to reserve the "T" as a last resort action. Now, I tolerate much less "crying" from players and coaches, moreso coaches because they are the "adults."

Technical Fouls
This year I only called one Technical. I actually got switched this year from the girls side to the guys side. I noticed that on the boys side in the area that I officiate a little more discipline and coaches don't really argue as much. The girls are also coached well just that the coaches at the JV level don't know when to coach thier team and talk to the officials. It was like everytime down the floor, 'My player got pushed.' "My player didn't walk, all she did was move both feet." (True story)

144 games so far . . .
4 on coaches (All Unsportsmanlike) 12-15 on players (includes 3 ejections: one with 2 T's, the other two for flagrant/fighting T's; most of the rest for whining about calls) 5-6 Administrative (including 2 sub. T's in one night) Average over the past 4 seasons . . . 2 on coaches 5-6 on players 3-4 Administrative It's been a busier year than usual. |
