Exclamation 8th grade rec player hits 15 threes!

In my second rec game last night, an 8th grade boy hit 15 out of 20 three pointers! This was on a MS gym, so the line is a little shorter than HS, but not by too much. Most were from out top, not from the corner and only three of them hit the backboard. The rest were swish. His team kept running a play that wound up kicking the ball out to him and he just buried it. He had nine of them in the first half. It was astonishing to watch.

Oh yeah, his team won by nine, so his "extra" points really mattered. BTW - unless he gets "recruited" by a private school, next year he'll attend my local HS. The kid is a little taller than me (who isn't? - I'm 5'10") and played pretty good defense, too. I can see him at shooting guard on the freshman team next year. Or maybe higher up.

Wow. Good shooting. Did the opposition coach try different defenses to stop him?

Wow, this kid'll probably be offered a scholarship before he even hits the doors as a freshman!

On another related note, I did an 8th grade girls game a week ago or so, where a girl hit a half-court shot at the quarter buzzer that was nothing but net, and she didn't throw it, just a heaving shot.

Forget the private school - NCAA schools might already consider him a prospect.
