The foul happened just after the horn sounded to end the quarter.

Did the shooter still have the ball? Or, was the ball in flight on a try (or had the try ended)?

Shooter had released the ball just after the horn sounded - ball was in the air as contact occured

In that case, easy no-call. The ball is dead at this point. Tell the coach "the quarter had already ended," if he asks.

Mechanic of clearly waving off the shot makes this call much easier for the coach to accept, in my opinion. It appears as though you got the call correct, but without a clear indication that the horn sounded prior to the shot and foul, the coach was looking for the call.
