Game fees?

When I worked in S. California the games fees for these Divisions were much less, which I thought was kind of strange.
As someone else said the game fee varies by conference and sometimes they are on tiers. In some D1 Conferences "top tier" officials can make more than a $1000 game fee, in other conferences the game fee is much lower and may or may not be tiered (sp?).
