It was. The Bird shot did not count.

I believe that he "made" that shot right down the street at the former Hartford Civic Center (now XL Center). The Celtics played as few preseason, and regular season, "home" games here, back when we were a "major league" market. Goodbye Whalers. Goodbye Celtics. Hello Sun.

made me question myself because i didn't know whether or not that was also true in hs games. so,

1) shot goes up, off rim, bounces over backboard (without touching anything) rebounded on back side - violation?

2) player shoots from endline near basket and ball goes over the corner of the backboard from back to front and in - violation?
As for number 2, the rules are not clear about what it means for the ball to pass over the backboard. Does 100% of the ball have to pass over the backboard? 50%? 1%?

So if only part of the ball passes over the corner, is it a violation? I don't know.

I'm going with any part of the ball, as in the ball being in the cylinder for BI.

Fair enough.

Of course, the BI rule specifically says "while any part of the ball is within the imaginary
cylinder" and the OOB rule does not.
