Leather Luster

I have used it before and I have heard of people baking the shoes even though it says not to. For the people who didnt follow the rules and went ahead and baked them, can I or cant I?

It has been several years since I used the product, but from what I remember, "baking" is probably too much. I left the shoes in front of a sunny window for several hours to cure. I've heard of others turning on the oven to no more than 100 degrees to cure the coat. But I would think any type of temperature that resembles "baking" would be way too hot.

So your saying that if I put them in the oven under at 100, I should be safe?

I would think a very low temp (for an oven), would be sufficient to help the coat cure, without melting any associated plastic on the shoe. But each oven, (and for that matter, each type of shoe) can be different, so I would be wary of trying that without careful monitoring. That's why I did the sunny, warm window instead of the oven, even though it took longer than a buddy who did the oven method. But you can never go wrong with following the specific instructions. To quote most commercials: "Read and follow all label directions."

What do they recommend?

I would say the easiest thing to do is pay approximately $50 and send the shoes to Leather Luster. They will do it right.
