Absolutely correct - no exceptions. A few years ago, in an 8th grade boys rec game, I had a kid do this in the last minute of a game. The ball hit the rim and bounced back directly at a defensive player's head. It hit his head and almost bounced up into the basket. It just missed - in fact, it hit the backboard and then the front of the rim. If it would have gone in, I would have been searching the stands for someone who had it on video.
