While working a girls summer league game this July, I had an interesting situation. The game is a 30 point blowout, it is like 900 degrees in the gym and a free thow shooter dribbles the ball off her foot. The ball rolls to an opponant who picks it up and throws it back to her. Neither player crosses over their line and the free throw shooter then shoots the ball. I let the play go on because I have no idea what the ruling is. I went through my rule book but had no luck. Any answers?

The approved procedure is to blow your whistle, get the fumbled ball, and re-administer the free throw. See NFHS casebook play 9.1SITUATION.What you did(nothing) had the same result, because nobody committed a violation.
