Just couldn’t wait

Had this weird/funny situation the other evening. We have a close matchup of 6th grade girls. All is going fine until just after we start the second half. I do a count before administering and all 10 are present and accounted for. I give a tweet and hand the ball to the thrower to start the game. Well, after about 30 seconds of play or so, I notice we only have 4 players of team A. I stop play and try to find out what happened. Well, a team A player just couldn’t wait and had dashed off to the bathroom. Not sure how we missed her escape, but we did . Anyway, I told the coach we had to have another player out here. So he puts one at the table and we continue.

Now, all I could think of was that the player left the court without authorization. 9-3-2. so we just gave the ball to the other team.
Is that pretty much it? No technicals or anything else?

Too funny, thanks for a good laugh.

BTW, in my game, if a youngster needs to go that badly, she's got my authorization.

An intentional "P" or a fragrant "P"?

Go POI. If you didn't see her leave, you can't call the violation. Aside from that, as BITS said.... Consider it authorized. You gonna make her ask permission?

Not at all. Just glad she didn’t have an accident.

Then you could have called her for an illegal dribble.

Yeesh - enough potty humor already. Who started this?

She should have raised her hand(s). One hand up for #1. Two hands up for #2.

It's a good think she didn't have to go #6 cause that's an illegal number.

Why, was she on her cell phone, too?

Five or six years ago in the first half of a semi-finals game of the Ohio Special Olympics State Championship, A1 was dribbling the up court in Team A's backcourt when A2 runs up to A-HC and tells him that he has to use the restroom. I immediatly stopped the game and told A-HC that A2 was considered an injured player that needed to be replaced. Nobody complained about my definition of an injured player.

A-HC ?
Is that one of two, or more than two people, standing and coaching?

I'll bet nobody complained about your definition of traveling, either.

I officiate several Special Olympics Unified Games every year, usually the lower level games, and the most important rule that I use during these games is purpose and intent, not of the rules, but of the game. I get no complaints from players, coaches, or fans, and I mean none, period. If any of you have a chance to do any of these games, go for it. It can be very rewarding.
