The dreaded clock sitch

Jr High game last night. Score is tied with only a few seconds left, and home team has the ball. H1 goes up for a shot as the clock winds down. H1 is fouled on the shot, which misses.

Less than a half a second after my partner whistles the foul, the horn goes off. I was watching the clock when he blew the whistle, and it showed 0:00, but the horn definitely went off after the whistle.

So, I know that there was time left on the clock, but I have no definite knowledge of what the time exactly was because it was a clock that doesn't show tenths of a second.

Since I knew there was time left but I didn't know how much, I but 1 second back on the clock.

I kicked it, didn't I?

The good news is that you now won't kick it again.

You can, however, put time on the clock even if you don't see time on the clock if you have any sort of count.....and some people can count in fractions of a second. Still, you'd only be able to put such fraction of a second on if the console is capable of such precision. If not, you can't put more time than was left.

Thankfully, yes!

Well, he made one out of two. But that was good enough for me!

I hope it was the second shot, and not the first shot.
