I concur with Bob that Arbiter is often close, but not totally accurate. I give my own spreadsheet/numbers to the "tax man" based on my odometer verification and previous year's known distances to the locations.

It's also often not close. I had one assignment that showed the distance at about 100, when the actual distance was 140+

I wonder if the Arbiter figures the distance as the crow flies, as opposed to actually driving the two distances. At any rate, I don't pay any attention to the mileage number and use my own records for mileage purposes.

Arbiter shows our distances in miles, however we don't got paid mileage so it really doesn't matter. We get a flat travel fee for games worked outside of the city limits.

You took the words out of my mouth. In my g/f's Garmin GPS when you initially punch up an address or point of interest the mileage reflects the distance in a straight line. But once you set it as a destination the mileage is recalculated to reflect the driving directions.

To summarize previous discussions: Some areas do, some areas don't. Of those that do, some pay one driver, some pay all. Some pay one way, some pay round trip. Some pay for all mileage, some for any mileage in excess of some number (e.g., mileage paid for miles above 25). Some pay one rate, some pay another. Some areas even pay at a third rate. ... |
