Thoughts on a loose ball/3 seconds call?

The OP asks for thought process. Without being there and seeing the play, my thought process would possibly be, "This play is a cluster, Team A has actually committed a 3 second violation and if I call it I put an end to this ugliness." To me it sounds to be a good place for calling the violation.
