Contact lens - time out

I was asked this the other day, and couldn't find any reference at all in NFHS/IAABO book: If a player has a contact lens situation, i.e., it's knocked out of position, or in his hand, how much time should be allowed to rectify the situation? It seems logical to me to use the same criteria you would for an injury or bloody shirt, but I could find nothing.

Guidance, reference?

This happened to Hansborough in the ACC Championship game. According to the commentators, for a contact lens the player is allowed as much time as needed that may be wrong but it's what they said.

Exclamation

Yeah - commentators have as much credibility about the rules as they have about the stock market. I'm sure some of them think they could perform successful brain surgery, too.

Hey - here's an idea. Let them try brain surgery on each other! Assuming they have brains, that is.

Uh-oh. My meds just kicked in and I remembered I used to do radio play-by-play.

Never mind.

NFHS 5-8-3: Only one 60-second time-out is charged (or one 30-second time-out, if that is the only type of time-out remaining) in 5-8-4 regardless of the amount of time consumed when no correction is made. EXCEPTION: No time-out is charged: a. If, in 5-8-3, the player’s request results from displaced eyeglasses or lens. b. If, in 5-8-4, the error or mistake is prevented or rectified

NFHS 5-11-3: Grants a player’s/head coach’s oral or visual request for a time-out, such request being granted only when: a. The ball is in control or at the disposal of a player of his/her team. b. The ball is dead, unless replacement of a disqualified, or injured player(s), or a player directed to leave the game is pending, and a substitute(s) is available and required.

On Weekend Update segments, Emily would discuss topics such as the Eagle Rights Amendment, Presidential Erections" (before Bill and Monica had,...how do I define it?), and Protecting Endangered Feces.

I hope that Ms. Radner's work is never forgotten. She was a great comedienne. I miss her every time I watch SNL, whether it's live, or an old rerun.
