In the first half of a D3 game this year, a defensive player says to me, "Ref, my shoe's untied!" during the play. I'm C, bench side, so I hear it and his coach hears it. The coach says, "That's a safety issue! You gotta blow the whistle!" I just said, "Not while they're on offense, Coach."

Offense takes a shot, defensive rebound, outlet pass, TWEET! Kid says, "You takin' away a fast break?" I said, "It's a safety issue."

I didn't say, "Don't try to screw around with me again."
