I can't imagine a more seductive manuever than bringing my wife w/ to my games tonight. After she observes all the "love" for the big guy in stripes, she will find me totally irresistable.

Meet my wife... Morgan Fairchild... yah, that's the ticket.

That one really did make me laugh right out loud. Very funny.

18 years for me and I've been officiating for 15 of them. My birthday also falls during basketball season. My wife actually gets more upset about not being able to do a "real" birthday celebration than about Valentine's Day.

What a coincidence. I've had 18 years of happy marriage too.

I've been married for 43 years.

I've been married 4 years and been an official for 4 years. I have an off night tonight, only because that is the way it happened. But other times I have done whatever it takes to make sure things are right, because that makes her happy. Only you can know what it takes for your situation.

I've been fortunate enough to have a mentor that is one of those guys that is seemingly flying around the country every night. With that comes a lot a great advice, but one of the best and most true to heart has been to make sure we take care of momma (or papa as the case may be, not that there is anything wrong with that). When things are good at home, it can only help us be better officials away from it.

Big romantic night planned tonight. Didn't take any games. Cuz' it's a special night....

Pack night.

Who on earth schedules a cub scout meeting on Valentines Day? Oh well. My wife is a den leader; my son is in the wolf den. I'll be there.

I actually chose to take tonight off. Have reservations at a semi-swanky steakhouse for me and my wife of 11 years. Blocked her birthday this year (May) too. She turns the big 4-0 and probably needs me around to remind her of it all day.

Of course I had/have varsity games Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday this week, so having one night off (nobody plays Wednesdays around here) is no big deal.

Good one!

My wife is very supporting of my officiating. So I always make myself unavailable to all my assignors on Feb 14. It is the least I can do to thank her for supporting my vagabond lifestyle between November and March.

Smile No problem

I'm not working a game tonight, but I am playing BB, as I do most Thursday nights when I can. No problem with my wife. We always say, Valentine's Day is for amateurs. Flowers? You really need to send them when it's least expected, or most needed. Several times a year I send flowers to her work, with an attached card with flowery (but earnest) sentiments, often in Spanish or French so she has to get it translated. She loves it, and the bonus is I'm golden for a few weeks (or until the next time I screw up). It really helps in the winter when I am often gone most weeknights.

Did you have to clear this with your other wife first?

(sorry, couldn't resist...we now return you to your regularly scheduled distraction...)

Your wife chose very, very well, and it sounds like you did too!
