Go to DD's Div. 3 softball doubleheader and pay more attention to the umps mechanics than the game itself.
First game must have been a joy - pitcher for DD's team threw a perfect game. 21 batters - 12 strike outs - no walks, no hits, no runs. Now for the umps - only one foible that I noticed - R1 on 1st - no outs. High pop-up to the shortstop. PU begins to call IFR - then realizes and cuts herself off. Only other comment that I had was with BU in C on a play at third, PU would go so far up the line that I wasn't sure who was going to make the call. BU consistently took the call, as I would have expected. I would think that going getting this close to the play would invite questions about who had the better angle. - Thoughts?? -Kono |

I thought 3rd is the PU responsibility unless there is a runner coming home, or it's the BR.

FWIW - It must be something that they were taught. The switched positions between games and both umps moved to the same spot. -Kono |

I'm trying really hard to find out what got downloaded to make this happen, but no luck so far. It's driving me crazy. Sometimes the keyboard goes dead, the caps lock button is reversed, if I right click my mouse, I go back a page on the web site etc. etc. etc. I'm not bad on a computer, but it may be time to go to my friend who's a pro at it and get it debugged. I just hate to admit defeat.
