Baseball umpire under investigation in flight attendant assault
DENVER (AP) - Authorities are investigating charges that a major league baseball umpire assaulted a flight attendant on an American Airlines plane from Dallas to Denver on Sunday. A spokesman for the U-S attorney in Denver confirms that prosecutors are investigating charges that a flight attendant was assaulted Sunday. A source close to the probe says the allegations, first reported in the Rocky Mountain News, involve 38-year-old Paul Schreiber, a five-year veteran of the major leagues. He umpired Sunday in Texas and Monday and Tuesday in Denver. An American Airlines spokesman says the flight attendant was verbally abused and physically assaulted. Sources tell the Rocky Mountain News the confrontation involved alcohol. (Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |

You know slander is illegal, even on the internet, right?
I searched the internet for this story, and also searched the Rocky Mountain news for his name. As far as I can tell, this is complete fabrication. The only thing I could verify was the umpire in question was, indeed, in Texas on Sunday and Denver on Monday. |
