when was AP arrow introduced

Do any of you wily veterans remember when the AP arrow was introduced instead of having two players jump for held ball situations?

I think the arrow was formally introduced at a formal dress ball sometime in the 90s. I'm sure it was wearing a tuxedo.

JUULIE - did you hide my meds again?

The AP Arrow was adopted by the NFHS with the 1985-86 school year.

The formal dress ball was eliminated.
The cumberbund made it bounce funny.
It was not dribbled, but only held.

I heard they still use it in FEEBLE games. Of course, now it's trapezoidal shaped.

Here it doesn't use a tuxedo, but a frac. Oops, sorry, a tailcoat. The biggest problem is the top hat, which tends to fall. You see, its size is metric, while the ball is in inches.

I knew a guy from Canada who said he had the same problem when he visited the U.S. and went to buy a new jockstrap.
