Cool Phantom Shooting Foul

Oh.... Now I get it. I think they covered this in the rule book under "it's all about me, how quick I can leave the gym and how much I can get paid" section. I believe it was section: O-U-8-1-2

You all are taking the comment much too seriously. It's an ongoing theme on the board with Padgett.

Amen. Could not care less what color the head gear is.

15. Adding an additional signal to the signal chart for basket interference. (Wave off; no need to change)

16. Adding an additional signal to the signal chart for an official’s accidental whistle.(I agree with jdw).

Penalize officials who refuse to use the appropriate signals in NFHS books. No post season assignments.
These would add the NCAA signals. If signals make for better communication, good.

Is there a, "Givin' him the business signal"?

Agreed, but that wasn't one of the choices.

They should either remove the restrictions on the color of the hair-control devices entierely, or make them all conform to the color and logo requirements. The current "headbands must conform, but pre-wrap and other bands needn't" doesn't work.

If it goes around their head, it has to be a legal color, and everyone has to wear the same color. Period.
I agree. It looks like the FED is continuing to move towards the NCAA-W mechanics and rules.

3. Having any item that goes around the entire head (elastic strips/bands, pre-wrap, headbands, etc.) meet the same rule requirements regarding color uniformity (currently only the headband must meet those requirements)?

MN started doing this mid-season back in December. Here is the pertinent details from an email to all officials, coaches and ADs.

Beginning with games played on December 14, Minnesota will consider any item that is worn around the head to be a headband and must comply with the headband rules. Headbands must be a maximum of 2 inches wide, white, beige or a single solid color similar to the torso of the jersey and must be the same color for all participants of that team. Note: Beige has been added as a legal color.

Items that do not meet the above requirements are considered hair decorations which are considered to be illegal equipment. Players are not allowed to play or warm up while wearing illegal equipment.

After the initial hub-bub died down (coaches saying they hadn't seen the email), within a week everyone was on the same page. It has made life easier for us officials in my opinion.

These are new NCAA-W signals which are present in the back of this year's rule book.

Sorry, but #16 isn't back there.

(Although I've used it...)

No he does not mean that -- I have worked with him. Lets just say there CAN be tie games in basektball.

BTW - since OT is an extension of the fourth quarter, shouldn't we start it with a POI from how the fourth quarter ended? It wouldn't have any effect on me, however, since I don't allow overtimes.
One more signal you forgot moving screen

I would love a signal for "your kid is not as good as you think he/she is"

Those 8 officials in the country that don't ever use unapproved signals are going to be busy this post-season.
