What's the procedure?
This happened in a JV game prior to my game lastnight.
Team A - 6 Team fouls Team B - 3 Team fouls 3:00 left in the 4Q On an unsuccessful shot attempt, A1 and B1 are whistled with a double personal foul. Does B1 get to shoot the bonus free thows? Also, is play resumed with the AP arrow nearest the POI? I am just curious, for my own sake, to see if the JV officials handled the situation correctly.

There are never any FT's for any double foul. All double fouls go to the POI. If the foul was called during the unsuccessful shot attempt, neither team was in control.......so you go to an AP throw-in. The designated spot for the AP throw-in is the nearest spot to where the ball became dead.
NFHS rules 10-6PENALTIES SUMMARY 1(c), 4-35-1&2(c), 7-5-3(b). Last edited by Jurassic Referee; Fri Dec 07, 2007 at 07:12am. |

It seems like if on foul is common but the other foul is intentional or flagrant, you ought to penalize the one that was so severe and shoot the free throws for the intentional/flagrant. But this is just not true. ALL double fouls, as Jurassic said, are no free throws and go to the POI. |
