It could have been worse.

You could have discovered this on the way out of the locker room.

Great stories!! Doesn't everyone have one of these? I had the same thing happen at a girl's game last year. The bi**h of it was that I got to the game site well over an hour early and had plenty of time to get a new pair of pants had I known...instead I got into the locker room in the middle of the third quarter of the prelim game, pulled out the pants that I had, slipped one leg in, then the other and as I started pulling them up I thought "uh oh"...these were the pants I wore when I was in college and about 30lbs ago (why these were still in my possession I have no idea)!! So I fight to get them up and zippered and look at my partners "uh guys we have a problem here!"....to their credit they held back the laughter!!! Fortunately one of my partners had an extra pair that fit in the waist & seat, but the inseam was about 4 inches too short...so my choices were to stay squeezed into these plum smugglers and risk a parent calling the cops on the pervert referee, or deal with the "nice floods" comments from the crowd...I pulled the socks up, hiked the pants down as far as I could and went with it.....I also triple check my bag every time now...

Four years ago, I was doing a girls game at a christian school. For some reason, I forgot my court shoes...rembered everything else though. Since I'm in sales, I'm usually in a coat and tie and have 2 pair of dress shoes, brown & black. As luck would have it... I was in my black wing tips and did the game. It was not very comfortable, but I got through it. My partners on that game still razz me about it every time I see them.

Did you experience any spillage?

Based on my lack of speed, the airflow around my shoes was insufficient to result in spillage...come to think of it, there wasn't much of a vortex line from either shoe either.

Reminds me of the time I went out on the road--I am in a sales job as well--and I had brown wing tips and black wing tips. I looked down in the bright sunlight and noticed I had on one of each.

That happened to me once, but when I went home to change, the pair of shoes at home was just as mixed up.

So you own two pairs with one black and one brown shoe? That's really weird.

Some years ago I wrote myself a check list on an index card that I keep in my bag and use every time I pack. Its worked for me so far.

I forgot socks once too. It was a kick-off tournament for 8th grade Junior High. Had to where my white socks. Ever since then, all my socks stay in my bag and just in case I have an emergency pair tucked away in a secret spot.

I tried that, too. Unfortunately, I lost the index card.

Well, the two pairs weren't EXACTLY alike.

In Bob's case they are. That's why it's so weird.

Tanner, who are you kidding? You with only one pair of spare socks... please. You have more than one pair in that bag!
And,
This white socks must be a Robinson thing. I saw a Jr. High game there a few years ago and one ref had on white socks and pants 2" too short. Ugly.... really ugly.... really, really ugly!!!

I was calling a game in Hawaii a few years ago when my partner ripped the seat of his trou from zipper in the front to belt in the back, and as luck would have he was wearing tighty-whiteys underneath...the whole gym could see them. The funny thing, though, was one of the local kids, speaking in the islands' ubiquitous pidgen mixing English & Hawaiian, noted "Hey, ref gotta puka in his akole" which translates to "Excuse me, but the referee has a hole in his butt". It still cracks me up every time I think of it.
