You need to check with your local association. Either heather gray or navy blue are legal as far as ASA is concerned, but the local association usually picks one that all umpire will wear. For where I am, it is heather gray.
There are also 2 legal shirt colors... you should check on that, too.

those darned pants
Another reason for buying them from ASA is that you can be certain you are buying the "right" pants for championship play.
To-wit: you can buy the "right" shade of heather gray from various sources. But...ASA (official gear) does not sell pleated pants. Trust me, this is going to be an issue more and more. I have yet to bust a seam in pants purchased through ASA, and I'm a pretty big guy (well, I'm a ROUND guy, and my wife must think I'm handsome at times). On the other hand, pants I have purchased from others musta been sewn with extra-crappy thread because they were no bueno por nada.
