Exactly... I guess to signify "count the basket"!

I worked with an ex CBA official last night & whenever he gets bored with the quality of play he throws little things like that at me. I guess just to see if I'm paying attention or if I am going to ask him why he did whatever he did. He clearly said NOT to use it in HS/NCAA games or camps but it might be a good style to mix into the Summer Pro Am League.

Let me reassure you that this is NOT used in the pro game and is not used in the pro-am I work. That does, imo, look stupid. What if you do that when a team is down 15 to 20 and they(the team down) foul a guy and they get an and 1. Well the coach is probably going to say, "It's not bad enough I'm getting beat by 20, but you just shove that and 1 up my a**, well you know what, screw you." Then you have to dump the coach and it just looks bad altogether.

I'm not saying anything about the guy because in pro ball personal preference is the spice of life, and life being basketball, so if he wants to use that I guess it's ok but I don't know one NBA referee who does that.

When I asked what the double was all about, he did say it was how the officials in the league used to do it...
Looked pretty fresh to me although I do see where you're coming from, I don't think I would experiment with it in blowout situations.

This is something that a lot of people really get bent out of shape about, but I like seeing it. I'll never do it, and I don't recommend it, but it's fun to be in the crowd and see an official get excited

I know a couple people that do it, and they just do it to have fun. Also, I could care less if a coach objects to the way I make a call. I care if an assignor objects to the way I make a call, and most of them object to it.

I think it's funny how people assume that every assigner hates this particular "mechanic." While I'm sure most may, maybe even all, I would be slow to flatly state that someone won't be taken seriously if they do it.

Lol, as an assignor I really could care less if someone double toots. It just ain't a biggie imo. I do care if they get the call right though.

I figured as much , but from what I've heard, the girls in the lane do care if someone double toots.
