I assume this is from putting the "hooked" half of the velcro on the shirt? Try putting the "fuzzy" part on the shirt and the "hooked" part on the patch.

Yeah - I thought about that after the fact and may try it for the spring/summer tourney schedule to see how everything holds up.

Go to your local fabric or craft store, here in Connecticut we have Jo-Anne Fabric and A.C. Moore, and get some hem tape or fabric tape. You cut it to shape, and iron it between your patch and your shirt, from both sides. I use it to iron American flags on my laboratory coats in my job as an analytical chemist. Works great.

So I iron it to the outside part of my officiating shirt, and then I take my patch on and off as many times as I need to?

Or do I iron it to the inside part of my shirt and take the patch on and off as many times as I need to?

My guess is you iron the sandwich --> shirt, tape, patch to warm the adhesive on both of its sides.

But isn't the tape more of a "permanent" attachment? My wife has used this tape to help hem pants, so I think it's a little more than temporary. I have used the tape before on a flag patch, and it does a good job of holding for a while, but it doesn't last through too many washings. The best permanent attachment is still sewing on the patches.

Here's my question. Obviously, you want to be able to take the patches on and off. Are you going to wear the shirt with no patches at all? If so, IMHO, a patchless shirt with velcro on it looks extremely bush league. Also, patches that are unattached at the edges and flap because the velcro is only attached in the middle look bad. Again, just IMO.

Is it really so expensive to buy an extra shirt or two with patches?
