I was channel surfing last night, and I came upon the SEC championship game. I noticed that all the officials had some sort of patch on their knickers. Is this common practice to put patches on your pants??

Is this the same SEC officials that let their flags hang out so the coaches can see them.

I still don't understand what the big deal is with coaches seeing your flags. I think we should have them hanging out that way the coaches know that we have them. They're part of our uniform and part of the game, what's wrong with showing them??

In Canada we have bright orange flags, and no one tries to hide them, people have them hanging out of their front pockets, back pockets, waistband etc. I really don't see what the big deal is.

Red face

Julian,

Don't you try to hide your whistle when you're reffing basketball?

I don't want a coach to think that I might call a foul or violation. He might get mad at me and call me a name.

Some perceive officials who let their markers hang from pockets and belts as gunslingers showing off their hardware. The subtle message being, "I've got these and I'm ready to use them."

Personally, I just think it looks sloppy.

I'm in this boat. It just looks sloppy.

As for pants, its not a common practice, atleast not that I know of.

i am not a big fan of the logo on the pants, primarily because it is about to be a requirement for georgia high schools (public schools anyway). the problem is that honigs owns the rights to the logo and the only pants they sell with it on there is $45 per pair. i understand that they will be giving us three years to get all of our knickers to include the logo, but this is just one more specialty item required for this level.

The honigs knickers are the best I've ever used and worth every penny for $45, it's when you have to pay $70 a pair you've got the right to complain.

Thumbs down

I have lived in a couple different places and having those flags hanging out always looks terrible in my opinion. For some reason in the south this is acceptable. Big East Officials do this as well.
