patches
Ok....need some help from multi-level officials in here.
I am looking for a good reliable adhesive liquid or strong double sided tape to use for my high school patches. I have a recommendation from another official who uses a 3M double sided industrial tape but I cannot find it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
there's a guy around here who uses name-tag magnets.

Several refs here use velcro.

My Solution
I sewed a strip of velcro to my shirt and glued the other part to my high school patch. If you use multiple patches that are located in the same area on the shirt, this would work fine.

I used velcro this year, but the velcro tore up the surrounding area of the shirt while in the wash. thus I won't be using the velcro on any of next years shirts.
I have also tried double sided carpet tape from Lowe's or Home Depot and that seemed to work well. |

I use a nail gun while I have the shirt on.

Hem Tape Or Fabric Tape
Go to your local fabric or craft store, here in Connecticut we have Jo-Anne Fabric and A.C. Moore, and get some hem tape or fabric tape. You cut it to shape, and iron it between your patch and your shirt, from both sides. I use it to iron American flags on my laboratory coats in my job as an analytical chemist. Works great.

BillyMac,
So I iron it to the outside part of my officiating shirt, and then I take my patch on and off as many times as I need to? Or do I iron it to the inside part of my shirt and take the patch on and off as many times as I need to? |

My guess is you iron the sandwich --> shirt, tape, patch to warm the adhesive on both of its sides. |
