Player takes off jersey

Just saw a replay of the Marquette game from the weekend, B1 hits a game-winning 3pointer and proceeds to run down the court and rip off his jersey top in wild celebration. Now don't the rules specify this as a techincal foul? It being a game-ending shot though, you'd probably be crucified if you called it. Would you call it?

NO!!! The game is over, the court is full of fans, players, coaches, and media. I'm headed to the locker room.

That would be a great call to make for your last official duty as a referee! The game is over . . . head to the house.

Brings back happy memories of Brandi Chastain!

This is not a technical foul in NCAA. In HS, it was specifically addressed in last year's POE's and officials were directed to issue a technical foul for this type of celebration. The jersey is not to be removed within the visual confines of the court at any time during the officials' jurisdiction.

In real life, the officials are already headed for the door and (hopefully!) conveniently won't see the celebration.
