Yeah, the commentators came right out of the commericial and tried to glitz over the explanation like even they didn't understand or like it.

Ah, excuse me but yes I did. I wrote:

See above.

And above, it says:

Without regard to whether the coach asked for it or not, you've granted Team B a timeout. You have to charge it.

Then, with no timeouts left, you then have to assess T. Is that correct?
Or am I missing something here.

I am not sure why I am to excuse you, so I won't. kycat asked two questions that were within the post you quoted:

What do you do then? If you grant the time out eventhough you should not have because the coach really didn't ask for the time out, are you going to make them take it and also issue a T for excessive time outs?

You did not answer those questions. I did not direct my post at you to inform you that you did not post correctly. I thought you would have knowledge for the questions I asked.

If anyone knows the answer, With no timeouts left, you grant a timeout that was not requested, and they have no timeouts, you have to assess T. Is that correct? (That is what I understand from BBR's early post stating that "you have to grant it."

Tweet! Time-out white!

He says, "I didn't want a time-out! That's the name of a play!"

"Sorry, Coach. Might want to find a new name for it. Time-out, white."

Turns out he was looking at the point guard, but I was so close to her, I thought he was looking at and talking to me.
I had a similar sitch happen a in GV game this year. Coach forms a T with her hands, while looking right at me, and being pressured in the backcourt. Turns out T stood for tiger. She eat the timeout, and I informed her she needed a new signal for that play. After the game one of the assistants told me that she had that happen two other times this year.
