Usually, if they are rubber bands and such, I usually just wait til the next dead ball, and then ask them to remove the item. If they are earrings, I think the correct federation procedure is to make the coach substitute, and it is a delay warning. Im not 100% sure, but I will check and post it, even though I am sure someone will correct/verify that statement before I get the chance to

It is only a "Delay of Game" warning if you are officiating High School Volleyball.

This may not be right but this is how I handle it. I wait for the next dead ball and then require a sub. But that is just me.

1) should be checking in pregame...
2) as soon as you notice get rid of the illegal stuff...
Sometimes it is as easy as take off the band and they can throw it to the bench quickly If not send the girl out and get a substitute in....Players cannot play with illegal equipment, Coach cannot complain about having to send a sub i, the coach certified they all are legally equipped...

There are only 4 delay warnings in NFHS rules, and removing jewelry is not one of them. The warnings for delay are issued:

1) when the defense reaches or jumps through the boundary plane during a throw-in;
2) when either team huddles before a free throw;
3) when a player interferes with the ball after a made basket;
4) when water is on the floor following a time-out.
