How about respecting the forum by telling us all when and where you officiated and at what level? You constantly avoid that question. You earn respect - you don't get it automatically.

I agree. I can't imagine presuming to officiate a sport without previously working hard to know the rules and receiving some training in proper mechanics.

I approached this from a players prospective. I coach the game for many years before I went into officiating. Most of the places I officiated, they just wanted a warm body. Think about it. Guys like you that know the rules are not going to want to do this lower level stuff, which creates a need that at the time I was happy to fulfill.

No, I just didn't go into that part of my career.

As do I, as I stated last night, I had 2 games. My new partner decided not to call a foul late in the JV game because of the point spread. I told him never do that again. Play the game all the way out, regardless. It doesn't matter how long it takes. B4 grabbed the kid with the ball at about the half court line as the home team was trying to just run the clock out. The kid with the ball just dribble thru it and kept dribbling.

Not so. I use lower level games to work on my mechanics, to help out less-experienced partners, to teach kids the game ("don't reach!", "straight up!"), and to help my assignor get games covered.

Only the last could one do without good training.

1) Are you working regularly scheduled conference college games at the D1, D2, D3, NAIA or JC level?
2) Are you working regularly scheduled conference boys/girls varsity high school games?

Or are you working rec league games with high school and college age players?

And, do you own the proper rule books, case books and manuals for those levels?
