Helping players up

Just curious the current school of thought about helping players to their feet. I have noticed in the NBA that this is a fairly common practice. I was told about 5 years ago - HANDS OFF.

Are we too worried about getting sued?

Is the practice ok in the NBA and maybe NCAA but not ok in NFHS?
